The Happier Me – Individual Counseling Long Island, New York
We all have difficulties…
The question is:
What do we choose to do about them?
Individual counseling can be helpful for addressing:
Depression / Postpartum Depression: Learn how to cope with your feelings and manage your time, energy, relationships and responsibilities. It also helps you develop strategies that will keep the symptoms of depression from interfering with your life or the lives of your family members.
Grief: Cope with your loss in the healthiest way through talk therapy.
Infertility: Counseling can help sort out the concerns that arise during this period, and assist in making sense of the more complex emotional issues that may arise. It also provides a place to safely share all of your anxieties, fears, and thoughts without being judged.
Problem Relationships: See me and hear me.. Make it safe. Often this is the beginning of what is missing.. It’s hard to ask for help and being in a relationship can be tricky.
Marriage / Pre-Marital Concerns: Therapy enables partners to recognize and avoid getting stuck in patterns, and to have a deeper understanding of their own and each other’s feelings. Counseling helps couples find new ways of being with each other that facilitate a stronger bond & a more fulfilling connection.
Divorce / Breakups: During this time, counseling can be a lifeline for many people. It’s not just about talking through your problems; it’s about connecting with someone who understands what you’re feeling and can help you figure out where to go from here.
Coping with Stress
Chana Pfeifer, LCSW, Imago Relationship Therapist:
I’m inspired by my clients every day. I find people who are motivated to change CAN make improvements in their daily lives and I’m happy to help turn those wishes into actions.
I am solution-based, looking to help a client become independent. I’m not anti-medication, but seek to try alternative methods initially, or concurrent to medication. A “quick fix” doesn’t work. I hope my clients can learn tools to lead their lives without depending on therapy.
The difference between individual vs. group therapy?
Individual therapy involves a professional counselor helping an individual work through their own therapeutic process. Group therapy, on the other hand, involves a group of individuals—all of whom are treated at the same time—by a therapist.
